Purr’n Pooch Foundation Takes Great Strides for Animal Charity

Saturday, October 4, 2014, Pier Village, One Chelsea Ave., Long Branch, N.J.

Shrewsbury, N.J. (September 16, 2014) – On Saturday, October 4, 2014, the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals will hold its 4th Annual 5K Canine Classic Run/Walk Classic to benefit animal charity. The race begins at 8 a.m. seaside at Pier Village, One Chelsea Ave., Long Branch, N.J. All are welcome to attend and dogs are required to run or walk on leash. One dog per handler/runner is requested. Pre-register at www.purrnpoochfoundation.org. Race shirts will be given to all pre-registered two-legged participants and are subject to availability for same day registrants. Cost is $30 per pre-registered adult, $35 on race day, and dogs walk or run for free. Race is rain or shine.

The course is flat along the boardwalk, out and back, closed to motor vehicles, and professionally chip-timed.  After the race, there will be bagels and refreshments, and awards will be presented to the 1st Overall Male and Female Runner; 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall Male Runner/K9 Team; and 1st, 2nd, 3rd Overall Female Runner/K9 Team.

The Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals awards annual grants to non-profit, no-kill animal welfare organizations to be used for day-to-day operations, emergency relief, spay/neuter efforts, veterinary care, equipment, construction, vehicle purchases, educational programs and special projects. The organization is able to help support the efforts of the charitable organizations by holding fundraisers such as the race. In 2013 the Foundation awarded grants to 11 non-profit animal welfare organizations including MidAtlantic Bulldog Rescue, New Life Boxer Rescue, German Shorthaired Point Rescue, Marine Mammal Stranding Center, Monmouth County SPCA, All Fur Love Animal Rescue and Project Animal Worldwide.

Those who are unable to participate in the race can also donate.
